Dorothy Helen Kinnunen, 86, died April 3. There was a funeral Mass at Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater in Vancouver, Washington.
Mrs. Kinnunen was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Vancouver, Washington, to John and Mary Fox. She was baptized at St. James Catholic Church and attended Providence Academy in Vancouver.
On May 13, 1950, Dorothy married Elroy Kinnunen. Together they had eight children. While raising the children, she was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She worked at Nabisco in Portland. In her free time she enjoyed dancing, sewing, and gardening.
In her later years, she resided at St. Anthony’s Village, which allowed her to walk to daily mass.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Sister of Providence Mary Fox; and her eight children: Rosemary Jeffries (Patrick), Suzanne Kinnunen, Paulajo Briones (Bryan), Kathy Brajcich (George), Janice Kinnunen (Dax), Charles Kinnunen (Ann), David Kinnunen, and Joel Kinnunen (Stephanie); 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Elroy; brother, John, and baby sister, Delores.
