Jocille Daniel
December 30, 1936 - April 3, 2017

YACHATS - Jocille Daniel, 80, died in Salem after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loved ones. There will be a rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, at St. Joseph Church in Salem.

Although her illness was long, Mrs. Daniel still maintained her wit and sense of humor, “making us laugh when maybe we wanted to cry,” said family.

After raising their children, Jocille and her husband, Vern, fulfilled their life-long dream and retired on the coast. There, they started their days with the sound of the crashing waves, the morning light as it danced across the ocean, and ended their evenings taking in the sunset. Salmon fishing was a favorite pastime, mostly because She insisted she could outfish Mr. Daniels, and she kept a log of the dates and weights to prove it. She also enjoyed gardening, especially flowering plants. She was very talented and artistic. Over the years, she oil painted, played the piano and organ, knitted, crocheted, cross stitched, and more. However, her greatest artistic accomplishment was in the world of beading. When she wasn't shopping for beads, beads and more beads, Mrs. Daniel was crafting amazing designs out of beads, stones and gems. These treasures will be forever valued by her family.

Mrs. Daniels is survived by her husband of 61 years, Vernon Daniel; daughters, Amy and Dani Daniel, and sons, Joey, Verrnon (Pam), Ray (Charlotte), and Greg Daniel; 15 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, Kenneth and Richard Daniel and grandsons, Ian and Christopher. Mrs. Daniel was an amazing wife and mother and her family will miss her deeply, especially her husband, Vern, who for the last sixteen months, weathered through rain, sleet, snow and ice to be by her side each day.
