President acted within principles
President Donald Trump
President Donald Trump

Regarding “Rejoin the accord,” June 16, page 27:

No magisterial teaching depends upon the consensual self-interests of international assemblies.

The church has long recognized that many specific solutions may accomplish the realization of broad theological objectives, one of which is the preservation of God’s creation. Indeed, the primary Catholic social justice principle of subsidiarity teaches that the best solutions are those developed closest to the communities which must implement and endure them.

The Paris agreement, into which the previous administration entered in violation of its constitutional responsibilities, should not be forced upon the American nation absent their consent, evidenced by the approval of a super-majority of the United States Senate.

Thus, President Trump acted in concert with established U.S. law and within the bounds of Catholic social justice principles.
