They helped me

Regarding “Wage theft,” July 16, page 1:

The Oregon Department of Labor helped me long ago. The state has strict standards on payment. My employer said I was a freelancer on contract, but the Department of Labor said anyone working full time for anyone is an employee subject to state labor laws.

Not only did I get paid. A lawyer in my church represented me in a lawsuit for 25 percent and I got $2,000 in back pay.
