I remember them
Catholic Sentinel Archives
On May 20, 1967, four ordination candidates enter St. Mary Cathedral: Michael Hemming, Timothy Murphy, Gregory Gage and William Hamilton.
Regarding priest jubilee coverage, June 16, page 19:
On May 20, 1967, at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Archbishop Robert Dwyer ordained Gregory Gage, Michael Hemming, William Hamilton and Timothy Murphy.
In the intervening years Father Gage served as parochial vicar at St. Henry in Gresham and All Saints in Portland, before becoming pastor at St. Vincent de Paul in Salem and St. Peter in Newberg, at the time of his death in 2003.
Father Hemming served as parochial vicar at Queen of Peace in Portland, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Albany, St. Mary Cathedral in Portland; and, then, as pastor at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in Rainier, St. Mary’s in Vernonia, St. Edward in Keizer, St. Edward in Lebanon and St. Francis of Assisi in Roy at the time of his death in July, 2011.
Father Hamilton served as teacher at North Catholic High School in Portland; chaplain for the Oregon Air Guard, executive director of St. Mary’s Boys Home, while in active ministry. Later he served as executive director and president/CEO of Easter Seals of Oregon and finally at Community Health Charities and consultant for Love Inc.
I thought their years of ministry were worthy of mention.
Msgr. Tim Murphy
