It was a vocation
Thank you for the excellent story (June 17, pg. 9) on Debilyn Janota, our outgoing principal here at Queen of Peace School in Salem.
I could never say enough in my admiration of her. When I arrived here at Queen of Peace Parish 10 years ago, I had known her for a time before I came so I was looking forward to working with her.
There is no doubt that her service as principal was not simply a job she was doing but a vocation she was living. Her care and concern for each child, our parents and the entire school staff was always evident. On my daily visits to the school, I would always be greeted with a smile and a “welcome.”
Of the school’s 52 years, Debilyn served as its principal for 22 of those years as she led the school community through the ups and downs that are inevitable. Her dedication was admirable and we will certainly miss her all the more. God go with you Mrs. Janota!
