Judge Frank J. Lonergan

Notre Dame’s first football player to become a coach began a new term of office Monday as judge of the Multnomah County Circuit Court. As a student at the University of Notre Dame, Judge Frank J. Lonergan played on its early football teams for three years —1901–03.

After graduation in 1904, Judge Lonergan came to Portland to teach history and economics and to coach at Columbia University, which later became the University of Portland.
