CYO Champions of Faith 2017

Catholic Youth Organization counts on more than 1,500 volunteers each year to help facilitate sports programs.

This year, CYO honored the following people:

• Volleyball Commission member – Theresa Dreves

• Athletic Director of the Year – Cathy Foy from Our Lady of the Lake

• Champions of Faith Chairs – Kathleen and Bob Burtchaell

• Executive Board Members – Michael Garcia and Sue Rivelli

• Tech Support – Graham Dudick  

• Camp Howard Cook who retired after 25 years – Fran Somann

• Hall of Fame Inductee – Phil Murphy

• For scholarship assistance and support – Holy Trinity Parish in Beaverton and Father Dave Gutmann

• For continued support over the years, most recently kicking off the capital campaign for the lodge at Camp Howard with a $1 million pledge – Joe Weston

• For 20 years of service to CYO/Camp Howard as executive director – Sister Krista von Borstel of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon

The CYO coaching class for 2016/2017 included: Kali Abel, Art and Nancy Hendricks, Joe Cortese, Craig Moore, Kim Read, Bob Lukasiewicz, Randy Remington, Lane Mueller, Spencer Beyrle, Mary Massey, Cristian Buchholz, Stephanie Piering, Marty Ramos, Michelle Vondenkamp, Morgan Will and Matt Bordonaro.

“We want to thank all of our volunteers, past and present, for their gifts of time and talent,” says Jolie Abraham Phanton, CYO communications director. “Without them, we would not exist.
